Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have uncovered a laboratory reportedly producing colorado, a synthetic strain of cannabis, at a residential building at Ajao estate in Isolo area of Lagos.
A statement on Sunday by Femi Babafemi, spokesperson of the agency, said on October 30, NDLEA officers raided the apartment converted into a laboratory by Stephen Kelechi Imoh.
Babafemi said the raid led to the seizure of large quantities of “freshly cooked” colorado and precursor chemicals, and the arrest of Imoh, the 30-year-old lab owner.
He said the raid followed months of intelligence gathering after NDLEA intercepted consignments of freshly produced colorado in Lagos in March and May 2025, which suggested that the psychoactive substance, previously imported, was now being locally manufactured.

He said items recovered include 16.2 kilograms of freshly cooked colorado, 1.7 kilograms of ADB-CHMNACA Cannabinol, 4.5 kilograms of potassium carbonate, and 91 litres of dibromobutane.
In a separate operation on Saturday, NDLEA operatives raided the residence of Afeez Salisu, alias Malu, a suspected drug dealer in Mushin, Lagos.
The officers reportedly recovered 16 compressed blocks of Ghana loud, a cannabis strain, alongside designer sachets and bottles of colorado weighing 16.4 kilograms.

Meanwhile, October 30, NDLEA arrested Godspower George Osahenrumwen, an artiste, known as Steady Boy, at Bougain villa, Primewater gardens 2 in Lekki, Lagos.
The agency spokesperson said Steady Boy was caught attempting to receive a large consignment of loud concealed inside three cartons of bathtubs imported from New York, United States.
The shipment, which arrived at Murtala Mohammed International Airport (MMIA), Ikeja, Lagos, aboard a DHL flight on 28 October, contained 140 bags of loud weighing 77.20 kilograms.
Babafemi said the music artist acted as the consignee on behalf of a syndicate that includes his manager, Zion Osazee Omigie, aka Zee Money, who remains at large.
