Newborn found dead inside well in Kano

A newborn baby has been found dead inside a well in Ruguzau, Takai LGA of Kano state.

Saminu Abdullahi, public relations officer of the state fire service, confirmed the incident on Tuesday.

He said firefighters received an emergency call regarding a baby’s body floating in a well.

“We received an emergency call at about 02:14 p.m from one Sabo Ladan that a baby’s body was found floating in a well,” he said. 

“We immediately sent our rescue team to the scene at about 02:18 p.m. On arrival, our men found a newborn baby in the well.”

Abdullahi added that the baby was retrieved from the well unconscious and later confirmed dead by medical personnel.

He added that the service has commenced an investigation into the incident.
