Newspaper Headlines: 13 states plan fresh N2.3trn borrowing

The killings in some communities in Plateau state, made the headlines of all the dailies today. 

The Punch reports that 13 states are planning to borrow fresh N2.3 trillion. The newspaper says Siminalayi Fubara, governor of Rivers, has defended the peace deal initiated by President Bola Tinubu on the political crisis in the state. 

The Nation reports that the probe into the $500 million Union Bank acquisition has widened. The newspaper says the federal government has extended the 50 percent rebate on interstate transport fares to non-luxury buses.

Daily Trust reports that over 145 persons are said to have been killed in bandits’ attacks on 23 villages in Plateau state. The newspaper says Matthew Kukah, Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, has called on Tinubu to find solutions to the myriad of problems confronting the country.
