The report of the World Bank that seven million Nigerians were pushed into poverty by inflation dominated the headlines of Nigerian newspapers.

The World Bank said inflation pushed seven million Nigerians into poverty in 2020, the Nigerian Tribune reports. Abdulrasheed Bawa, the chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, said high-profile Nigerians are after his life over corruption cases, the newspaper says.

The Nation says experts have warned that rising inflation is crippling the economy and worsening the poverty rate in the country. The newspaper reports that the Delta state government is expecting the £4.2 million Ibori loot.

Daily Independent reports that the World Bank said Nigeria needs reforms to curb inflation and spur economic recovery. The newspaper says crisis is rocking the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) as two politicians lay claim to the party’s chairmanship position.
