Newspaper Headlines: ACF kicks against relocation of CBN, FAAN offices to Lagos

Reports on the rising cases of abduction in many parts of the country, dominate the front pages of Nigerian newspapers.

The Punch reports that security experts have accused commercial banks of encouraging the kidnapping epidemic in the country, as some ransoms are paid into bank accounts. The newspaper says Dangote refinery is set to supply fuel to about 150,000 retail outlets operated by the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN).

Daily Trust reports that the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) has kicked against plans by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) to relocate their offices to Lagos. The newspaper says the federal government has subsidised electricity to the tune of N5 trillion in the last 10 years. 

The Guardian reports that if the administration of President Bola Tinubu fails to address the current economic challenges, it will dent Tinubu’s record as a good economic manager. The newspaper says the Lagos state government has banned the use and distribution of single-use plastics such as styrofoam. 

 

THISDAY reports that The Economist of London has described the security plan of Tinubu as “worrying” amid the rising cases of kidnapping in many parts of the country. The newspaper says Tinubu called for a review of the global taxation system to redress imbalance in the international tax regime.
