Newspaper Headlines: ADC demands Atiku, Obi’s full membership

The national stakeholders meeting of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) dominates the cover pages of the dailies. 

 

Daily Trust reports that Rabiu Kwankwaso, former Kano governor, is in talks with Nentawe Yilwatda, national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), over joining the ruling party. The paper says former President Goodluck Jonathan, on Thursday night, visited David Mark, national chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), amid speculations about his presidential ambition.
Guardian newspaper reports that Caleb Mutfwang, the Plateau state governor, has raised the alarm over rising religious violence, saying over 6,000 people were killed in 2023, in the middle belt.The paper says that the National Union of Electricity Employees (NUEE) has directed its members to withdraw services across the country.

The Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) says it has approved the sale purchase agreement (SPA) of TotalEnergies EP Nigeria Limited to assign its entire 12.5 percent contractor interest in oil mining lease (OML) 118 to Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company (SNEPco) and Nigerian Agip Exploration (NAE) Limited. The paper adds that Abubakar Bagudu, minister of budget and economic planning, has urged the World Bank to back the Renewed Hope Ward Development Programme.
