The criticism of the federal government by Rotimi Akeredolu, governor of Ondo, over refusal to allow Amotekun, a regional security outfit, to carry arms dominated the cover pages.

The Punch reports that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Atiku Abubakar, its presidential candidate, are set to begin campaigns on Wednesday without the allies of Nyesom Wike, governor of Rivers. The newspaper says Akinwumi Adesina, president of the African Development Bank (AfDB), said Nigeria needs help to tackle its debt burden.

Daily Independent reports that Usman Baba, inspector-general of police, has ordered the arrest of any operatives of Amotekun and Ebube Agu at political campaigns. The newspaper says Akeredolu has vowed to arm Amotekun against the directive of the federal government.

The newspaper reports that an official of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) said the Integrated Payroll Personnel Information System (IPPIS) and the University Transparency Accountability Solution (UTAS) failed the integrity tests on university payroll.

The Guardian says Akeredolu has criticised the federal government for not allowing operatives of Amotekun to bear arms. The newspaper reports that cholera has killed 10 persons in Gombe.

Daily Sun says Nyesom Wike, governor of Rivers, is likely going to unveil his preferred presidential candidate during a meeting with his allies, today. The newspaper reports that the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC) Limited, US corporation and Nexim bank signed a deal on gas project.
