Newspaper Headlines: Buhari’s CPC bloc may dump APC ahead of 2027 polls

Today, newspaper headlines are dominated with reports of mixed reactions to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar’s resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Daily Trust reports that one hundred and fifty-one senior police officers have been scheduled to appear before the force disciplinary committee (FDC) of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF). The newspaper adds that some women abducted in February 2024 from Rafi and Shiroro LGAs, Niger state, have returned from captivity with pregnancies and babies.
The Guardian newspaper reports that residents in Osun are worried over the escalating verbal clash between Ademola Adeleke, governor of the state, and one of his predecessors, Rauf Aregbesola, former interior minister. The paper says the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has flagged 9,469 fake admissions across 20 tertiary institutions nationwide for the 2024 academic session.
