Newspaper Headlines: China boosts Nigeria’s flood relief efforts with $1m

The Nation reports that the Ondo state government has banned graduation parties for nursery and junior secondary school students, citing the financial burden such ceremonies place on parents and guardians. The newspaper adds that Kayode Egbetokun, the inspector-general of police, has sued Omoyele Sowore, activist and publisher, accusing him of forgery, defamation, and incitement to mutiny.
The PUNCH reports that the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) and vice chancellors have decried professors’ N525,000 monthly pay. The paper adds that former president Goodluck Jonathan has asked for urgent electoral reforms.
