Reports on Nigeria’s inflation rate and the appointment of the new governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) dominated the cover pages of Nigerian newspapers.

The Punch says Olukayode Ariwoola, chief justice of Nigeria, will on Wednesday constitute the supreme court panel that will hear the appeal arising from the judgment of the presidential election petition tribunal. The newspaper reports that many rice farmers are under pressure to repay the loans obtained from the CBN under the anchor borrower programme.

THISDAY reports that the consumer price index (CPI), which measures the rate of change in prices of goods and services, increased to 25.80 percent in August. The newspaper says Lagos tops the list of states with high domestic debts with a N996.44 billion debt profile as of June 2023.
