Newspaper Headlines: Defect with me to APC or resign, Umo Eno tells appointees

Reports on the endorsement of President Bola Tinubu for a second term in office, by major stakeholders in the All Progressives Congress (APC), dominate the frontpages.

The Punch reports that APC  stakeholders have endorsed Tinubu for a second term in office in 2027. The newspaper says 52,000 Nigerians migrated to the United Kingdom in 2024, according to newly released data from the UK Office for National Statistics.
THISDAY reports that opposition politicians are currently weighing whether to join an existing political party or create a new one ahead of the 2027 elections. The newspaper says Nuhu Ribadu, national security adviser, said Nigeria is safer under Tinubu despite security challenges.
Daily Trust reports that at least 1,593 Nigerians lost their lives in road traffic crashes during the first quarter of 2025. The Guardian reports that Adewole Adebayo, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), has ruled out the possibility of stepping down for former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar for the 2027 elections if the SDP becomes the platform adopted by opposition politicians. The newspaper says Umo Eno, governor of Akwa Ibom, has asked his commissioners and political appointees to defect with him from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to APC or risk losing their jobs.
The Nation reports that Femi Otedola, the chairman of First HoldCo Plc, said the policies of Tinubu and Olayemi Cardoso, governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), have revived investor confidence in the Nigerian economy.
