The Nation says a fresh crisis has hit the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) over how the over N10 billion collected by the party for nomination fees was spent. The newspaper reports that the petrol subsidy paid by the federal government rose by 17.1 percent to N525.71 billion in August.

Daily Trust reports that former President Olusegun Obasanjo said Nigeria must have a national dream and identity. The newspaper says the revenue of the federation dropped by N280 billion as federal, state and local governments are expected to share N673.137 billion.

Daily Sun says allies of Nyesom Wike, governor of Rivers, are considering replacing Iyorchia Ayu, national chairman of the party, with Olusegun Mimiko, former governor of Ondo state. The newspaper reports that Jonathan asked Nigerians not to vote for leaders who will kill them.
