Reports on the plan for three national identity cards and issues of electricity supply, dominate the cover pages of Nigerian newspapers.

The Punch reports that the federal government is set to launch three new national identity cards in May 2024, with a target of providing them to about 104 million citizens. The newspaper says Abba Yusuf, the governor of Kano, has urged the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to release the result of its probe into the alleged dollar bribery video involving Abdullahi Ganduje, the former governor of Kano.

The Guardian reports that bank owners are lobbying to seek an adjustment to the recapitalisation policy of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN). Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the last election, said his major concern is the myriad of problems facing the county rather than the crisis in the party, the newspaper says.

Vanguard reports that independent oil marketers have proposed N556 per litre as the price for petrol to the management of the Dangote refinery. The newspaper says Abba Yusuf, governor of Kano, said his predecessor, Abdullahi Ganduje, has a case to answer for alleged corruption during his administration.

The newspaper says Atiku Abubakar, presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the last election, has raised concerns over the Lagos-Calabar highway project, saying the president is prioritising personal business interests.

The Nation reports that the PDP is in a dilemma over the choice of its next national chairman. The newspaper says Hamisu Bala, the suspected kidnap kingpin better known as Wadume, has been freed from prison after completing seven years of imprisonment.
