Reports on the scarcity of new naira notes and its impacts on Nigerians dominated the cover pages of Nigerian newspapers.

The Punch says the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is set to raid new naira note racketeers in key commercial cities including Lagos, Port Harcourt, and Kaduna. The newspaper reports that the human trafficking case against Ike Ekweremadu, a former deputy president of the Senate, and his wife, Beatrice, resumed in a London court on Tuesday.

The Nation reports that Godwin Emefiele, governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), has blamed banks for the scarcity of new naira notes. The newspaper says the absence of Sonia, daughter of Ekweremadu, stalled the trial of the former lawmaker and his wife, for alleged organ harvesting.

Daily Trust reports that Nyesom Wike, governor of Rivers, and his allies have failed to announce their preferred presidential candidate despite promising to do so in January.

Daily Independent reports that Godwin Emefiele, governor of CBN, said no Nigerian would lose money despite the February 10 deadline for phasing out of old naira notes. The newspaper says the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has threatened action against any judicial officers who fail in their duties during post-election disputes.

The Guardian says the scarcity of cash in banks stalled business transactions across the country and made many Nigerians stranded. The newspaper says Dakuku Peterside, the former director-general of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), has challenged  Nyesom Wike, governor of Rivers to name his presidential candidate as he had promised to do before January ends.
