Reports on political activities ahead of the commencement of campaigns on September 28 for the 2023 elections dominated the cover pages of Nigerian newspapers.

Sunday Punch reports that governors continue to retain their numerous advisers and assistants amid dwindling revenue. The newspaper says the All Progressives Congress (APC) has assembled a 422-member presidential campaign team in preparation for the commencement of official campaigns on Wednesday.

The Nation says officials of the leading political parties in the country are working round the clock ahead of the commencement of campaigns for the 2023 elections. The newspaper reports that the APC presidential campaign council said Ayo Adebanjo, leader of Afenifere, is not speaking for the Yoruba ethnic group in his endorsement for the candidacy of Peter Obi, flagbearer of the Labour Party (LP).

THISDAY says the APC presidential campaign council has explained that the name of Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo was not included in the campaign list based on the directive of President Muhammadu Buhari. The newspaper reports that the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited petrol subsidy deduction reached N2.6 trillion in eight months.

Sunday Independent says the federal government has removed the Nigerian Sovereign Investment Authority (NSIA) as one of the investors in the nation’s national carrier, the Nigerian Air. The newspaper reports William Kumuyi, the general superintendent of the Deeper Christian Life Ministry, said God has not spoken to him about who will become Nigeria’s next president.

The Guardian says some prominent Yoruba leaders have disagreed with Adebanjo for initiating an alliance with Ohanaeze to form OhaNifere to drive the 2023 presidential ambition of Obi. The newspaper reports that economic revival and security will dominate the promise lists of politicians ahead of the campaign.
