Newspaper Headlines: Gunmen kill 11 in fresh Katsina attacks

Reports on the emirship tussle in Kano, and the suit filed by the federal government on autonomy of LGAs, suffuse the frontpages of Nigerian newspapers.

The Punch reports that President Bola Tinubu said the Lagos-Calabar coastal highway will give 30 million people improved access to production and marketing centres. The newspaper says the federal government has approached the supreme court with a suit seeking to compel governors of the 36 states to grant full autonomy to local governments in their domains.
Daily Trust reports that supporters of Aminu Ado Bayero, deposed Emir of Kano, have staged peaceful demonstrations demanding the reversal of his dethronement. The newspaper says two abducted students of Confluence University of Science in Kogi have been killed.
The Guardian reports that the supreme court has fixed May 30 to hear the federal government’s suit against state governors on autonomy for LGAs. The newspaper reports that the energy crisis in the country may assume the worst dimension if the eligible customer policy is reviewed.
THISDAY reports that Nuhu Ribadu, the national security adviser, has asked Aminu Gwarzo, the deputy governor of Kano, to withdraw his defamatory statement against him on the emirship tussle in the state or face legal action. The newspaper says former President Olusegun Obasanjo said the administration of incumbent President Tinubu is yet to find the right way to handle the economy.
