Newspaper Headlines: Gunmen kill 15 farmers in fresh Plateau attack

Reports of gunmen attacks in the north of the country permeate today’s frontpages.

The PUNCH reports that Nyesom Wike, minister of the federal capital territory (FCT), may derail the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) convention in Ibadan over a rift with Seyi Makinde, governor of Oyo. The paper adds that the police service commission (PSC) has withheld the promotion of 179 assistant superintendents of police.
Daily Trust reports that at least 15 farmers were reportedly killed in a fresh attack on seven villages in Mangu LGA of Plateau state. The newspaper adds that suspected bandits have attacked and killed five farmers in Birnin Gwari LGA of Kaduna state, with four victims from the same family.
Daily Sun reports that the coronation ceremony of Rashidi Ladoja as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland has been fixed for September 26.
