Newspaper Headlines: Intending pilgrims demand refund of N4.9m hajj fare

The Punch reports that the federal government has contacted the International Criminal Police Organisation (Interpol) over the escape of Nadeem Anjarwalla, Binance’s regional manager for Africa, from custody in Nigeria. The newspaper says the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has announced that it will be allocating $10,000 to each bureau de change operator at N1,251/$.
Daily Trust reports that intending pilgrims have demanded a refund of the initial payment of N4.9 million for 2024 hajj fare after N1,918,032.91 was added to the fare. The newspaper says six of the 137 rescued schoolchildren of the Government Secondary School, Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna state, were said to have been hospitalised.
The Guardian reports that vandalism of electricity assets in the country has cost Nigeria N12.8 billion in maintenance in two years. The federal government said it did not pay any ransom to secure the release of abducted Kuriga schoolchildren.
THISDAY reports that the office of the national security adviser said it is working with Interpol to apprehend the fleeing Binance executive. The newspaper says Airbus has pledged to work with Nigeria to boost air transport in the country.
