Newspaper Headlines: Jonathan has not ruled himself out of 2027 contest, says cousin

The front pages of the Saturday dailies dwell on the 2027 presidential election and security concerns in different parts of the country.

THIS DAY reports that US President Donald Trump has revoked the Secret Service protection of former Vice President Kamala Harris. The newspaper reports that Bala Mohammed, the governor of Bauchi, said the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is considering either former President Goodluck Jonathan or Peter Obi, the ex-governor of Anambra, to possibly lead the party to the polls in 2027.
Vanguard newspaper reports that Rivers police officers have arrested youths in Nkpolu, Obio/Akpor LGA, after the assault of Joseph Nyian, an inspector accused of taking illicit drugs. The paper reports that the Lagos chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) says Jonathan cannot unseat President Bola Tinubu if he decides to run for the presidency in 2027.
Nigerian Tribune reports that Niger Delta youths, under the aegis of Host Communities Producing Oil, Gas and Pipeline Impacted States’ Youth Council of Nigeria (HOSTCONYCN), have condemned calls for the sack of Bayo Ojulari, group chief executive officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited.
