The attack on soldiers by terrorists in Abuja dominated the cover pages of Nigerian newspapers.

The Nation reports that there is panic in the country’s capital — Abuja — over an attack on soldiers attached to the guards brigade in the federal capital territory (FCT). The newspaper says the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has declared that it will commence a three-day warning strike immediately after its protest.

The Punch reports that the police have warned hoodlums against hijacking the protest by the NLC. The newspaper says Babajide Sanwo-Olu, governor of Lagos, has declared four work-free days in the state for collection of permanent voter cards (PVCs).

Daily Independent says the federal government has ordered closure of all unity schools in Abuja over threat by bandits. The newspaper reports that donkey dealers have kicked against the proposed ban on slaughtering of donkeys in the country.

Daily Trust reports that a captain and two soldiers were killed by terrorists on Sunday night in Bwari area of the FCT. The newspaper says bakers have increased prices of bread by 20 percent.

Daily Sun reports that blackout looms in many parts of the country as the NLC begins mass protest today. President Muhammadu Buhari said success of Nigeria’s 2023 elections can halt coups in Africa, the newspaper says.
