Reports on the suspension of the nationwide strike declared by organised labour, suffuse the front pages today. 

The Punch reports that organised labour has suspended its nationwide strike over an alleged assault of Joe Ajaero, president of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC). The newspaper says the Labour Party (LP) has described the merger proposal of Atiku Abubakar, presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 elections, as a good proposal that should be considered.

The Nation reports that the federal government said the ongoing reforms of the administration of President Bola Tinubu may come with pains but are inevitable. The newspaper says the royal embassy of Saudi Arabia in Abuja says the visas of Air Peace passengers were cancelled because they did not fulfil the entry conditions of the Arab country.

Daily Trust reports that two children died during a fire incident at a camp of internally displaced persons (IDP) in Borno state. The newspaper says the consumer price index (CPI), which measures the rate of change in prices of goods and services, rose to 27.33 percent in October 2023.

Daily Independent reports that Nigeria may be heading towards its most agonising Christmas and New Year period in recent times with inflation hitting its highest in the last 27 years. The newspaper says the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) at the Murtala Muhammed Airport has intercepted N3.55 billion tramadol tablets imported from Pakistan and India.

THISDAY reports that the Nigerian Upstream Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) said all the companies it awarded marginal fields in the last round were eminently qualified. The newspaper says industry stakeholders have again called on the federal government to urgently auction the oil and gas assets of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL).
