Newspaper Headlines: Nigerian-used car market booms as more owners sell off private vehicles

The national dailies report that 62.96 percent of candidates passed the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) after the test body reviewed the 2025 results.

Tribune reports the presidency as saying that President Bola Tinubu’s two-year record has surpassed the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) performance under Olusegun Obasanjo. The newspaper says the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has released fresh and correct results of candidates who sat for this year’s May/June WASSCE.
Punch reports that the Nigerian-used car market is booming as more owners sell off their vehicles. Dumebi Kachikwu, the 2023 presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has alleged that northern elites are pushing former President Goodluck Jonathan to join the 2027 race in a bid to diminish Tinubu’s chances. 
Guardian says the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is seeking voting rights for inmates of correctional facilities. The newspaper reports that the PDP has threatened to sanction prominent members who have endorsed Tinubu’s re-election bid.

Vanguard reports that Sule Lamido, ex-governor of Jigawa state, said no southern candidate is a better alternative to Jonathan. The newspaper says the Dangote refinery has debunked rumours of a shutdown of operations.
The Sun reports that Peter Obi has donated millions of naira to nursing students and an Islamic school in Bauchi. The newspaper says Rivers stakeholders have written to Tinubu, faulting the plan to hold LG election in the state.
