Expectations for incoming President Bola Tinubu’s administration, dominate the cover pages of Nigerian newspapers.

The Punch reports that Nigerians have demanded quick action in the areas of economy, security, fuel subsidy and other critical sectors, from the incoming administration.

The Nation says many world leaders are in the country to witness the inauguration of Tinubu as Nigeria’s next leader. The newspaper reports that like the senate, the house of representatives has approved the upward review of access to ways and means for the federal government.

Daily Independent reports that stakeholders say Nigeria’s public debt, petrol subsidy burden, insecurity and others may prevent the incoming administration from making any meaningful impact. The newspaper says outgoing President Buhari has insisted that Nigeria is better off now than in 2015.

The Guardian reports that Nigerians have expressed caution in trusting the incoming administration of Tinubu to fulfill campaign promises. The newspaper says Buhari has apologised for any difficult choices he made during his tenure that caused pain to Nigerians.

 

Vanguard reports that agitators invaded a radio station in Ibadan, the Oyo state capital, on Sunday. The newspaper says SecureWorld and Liberty Initiative for Peace (SELIP), a group, has petitioned the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) seeking the probe of Hadi Sirika, outgoing minister of aviation, for allegedly using the establishment of a national carrier — Nigeria Air — to perpetrate fraud and commit economic sabotage.
