The World Health Organisation has declared the monkeypox outbreak a global health emergency. Here are the headlines from Nigerian dailies.

The Nigerian Tribune reports that Tunde Bakare, pastor and former presidential hopeful of the All Progressives Congress (APC), says he did not endorse Bola Tinubu for president. The newspaper says the Ogun state government vows to take over Sango-Ota-Abeokuta road if the federal government does not intervene in two weeks.

The Guardian reports that inflation, insecurity may ruin APC’s chances in the 2023 elections. The newspaper says Bola Tinubu, presidential candidate of the APC, described Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as a pathological liar blinded by ambition.

The Punch reports that Nigeria recorded 1,332 cases of COVID-19 in a week. The newspaper says the APC may zone the role of director-general of the presidential campaign to the north-west to pacify the geopolitical zone.
