Newspaper Headlines: Osun PDP asks FHC judge to probe letters in LG funds case

The Osun local government crisis and the return of democratic governance in Rivers dominate the cover pages of today’s newspapers. 

The Punch reports that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun has asked the chief judge of the federal high court to investigate a disputed letter on the local government crisis. The newspaper also reports that Nyesom Wike, minister of the federal capital territory (FCT), says he will not recommend commissioners for Siminalayi Fubara as Rivers’ emergency rule ends.
Nigerian Tribune reports that the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has officially ended passport production at multiple centres, transitioning to a single, centralised system for the first time in 62 years. The paper says Wike has defended the reinstated Fubara over his absence from the government house on Thursday.
New Telegraph reports that the national economic council, at its 152nd meeting, again deferred discussions on establishing state police to address rising insecurity nationwide. The paper says the Rivers state house of assembly has resolved to investigate the management of the state’s finances during the six-month period when Ibok-Ete Ibas served as sole administrator.
Daily Times reports that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has re-arraigned Olu Agunloye, a former minister of power and steel, over alleged infractions in the award of the Mambilla Hydroelectric Power Station contract.
