Newspaper Headlines: PH refinery halts operations, loading bay empty

Reports of another boat mishap in Niger state, and the debate that has trailed President Bola Tinubu’s tax reform bills, permeate the frontpages of the newspapers.

Guardian reports that Yemi Cardoso, governor of the central bank of Nigeria (CBN), said the country lost N6.2 trillion to the flexible foreign exchange (FX) rate regime in 2022. The newspaper says two suspected cult members were set ablaze by a mob in Jos.
Punch reports that the Port Harcourt refinery has halted operations, just days after it was reopened with fanfare. The newspaper says Julius Abure, national chairman of the Labour Party (LP), has appealed to Peter Obi, the party’s 2023 presidential candidate, and Alex Otti, governor of Abia, to return to the party.
