Newspaper Headlines: Residents flee as gunmen attack Kwara villages

Reports on the raid by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on a hotel within the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL) complex in Abeokuta, suffuse today’s frontpages.

The Punch reports that states spent about N235.58 billion on external debt servicing in the first half of 2025, according to Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) data from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS). Blueprint newspaper reports that Aminu Masari, chairman of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), says the agency’s board approved over N100 billion for tertiary institutions to boost medical science training capacity. The paper also adds that the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) says its operatives have arrested Adefolusho Aanu Olasele (aka Abbas Ajakaiye) for allegedly masterminding multiple shipments of illicit drugs into Nigeria.
