The Nation says President Muhammadu Buhari said Tinubu is in the best position to perform well as Nigeria’s president. The newspaper reports that Tinubu has nominated Atiku Bagudu, Kebbi state governor, and Olawale Edun, a former Lagos commissioner for finance, into the presidential transition council.
The Guardian reports that the planned removal of petrol subsidy by the federal government may meet resistance from the public and labour unions over lack of clarity regarding the availability of social investment programmes.
Daily Sun says abductors of officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Kogi state are demanding N50 million ransom before they would release their victims. The newspaper reports that the senate has passed the bills seeking to extend the implementation of the 2022 budget.
