Newspaper Headlines: Taraba governor goes spiritual over deputy’s illness

Reports on the modus operandi of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and calls for the sanction of Fuji star Wasiu Ayinde, popularly known as KWAM 1, dominate the dailies.

The Nation reports that Kayode Egbetokun, the inspector-general of police (IGP), has ordered an investigation into KWAM 1’s conduct at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja. The paper adds that Chukwuma Soludo, governor of Anambra, says his friendship with President Bola Tinubu spans over two decades and will not be broken by political differences.
Blueprint newspaper reports the EFCC as saying that its investigations and prosecutions are free of partisan considerations, insisting that there are no “sacred cows” in the pursuit of its anti-graft mandate. The newspaper adds that 16 inmates have escaped from the medium-security custodial centre in Keffi, Nasarawa state.
