The order issued by a US court for the arrest of Abba Kyari, deputy commissioner of police, for his alleged involvement in a scam by Ramon Abbas, better known as Hushpuppi, and the decision of the police authorities to review the allegations dominated the headlines of Nigerian newspapers.

The Nation reports that Olusegun Falola, the lawyer to Sunday Adeyemo, youth leader better known as Sunday Igboho, says the agitator is being held in Benin Republic’s prison so that he will be protected. The newspaper says the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has directed banks to open dollar point of sale to customers.

The Punch reports that governors elected under the All Progressives Congress (APC) are set to hold an emergency meeting today over the supreme court decision on the party’s caretaker chairman. The newspaper says a man pretending to be mad was caught with N250,000, three iphones and women’s underwear in Ogun state.

Daily Independent says Usman Baba, inspector-general of police, has ordered an investigation into the alleged involvement of Kyari in Hushpuppi fraud. The newspaper reports that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has insisted that only technology can guarantee a credible electoral process.
