Newspaper Headlines: US defends Soyinka’s visa revocation

The admonition of President Bola Tinubu to the newly appointed service chiefs, and the foiled coup plot, permeate the cover pages of today’s dailies. 

The Punch reports that petroleum marketers have warned that the pump price of petrol could exceed N1,000 per litre following President Bola Tinubu’s approval of a 15 percent import tariff on fuel imports. The newspaper says the United States embassy in Lagos has stated that visas granted by the country to foreign nationals are based on privilege, not a right — in response to an inquiry from the newspaper regarding the revocation of the visa of Nobel laureate Wole Soyinka.
