The arrest of five suspects in connection with the murder of at least 40 persons at St Francis Catholic Church, Owo, Ondo state, dominated the cover pages of Nigerian newspapers.

The Punch reports that Rotimi Amaechi, former minister of transportation, is angry about the romance between the loyalists of Bola Tinubu, presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), and Nyesom Wike, governor of Rivers. The newspaper says the federal government has re-constituted the national steel council to drive the growth of the steel industry in Nigeria.

The Nation reports that security operatives have arrested five suspects and one accomplice allegedly involved in the attack on St Francis Catholic Church, Owo, Ondo state. The newspaper says the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) has asked ministries, departments and agencies to remit over N1 trillion in taxes.

Daily Trust reports that there is brewing commotion over a deal in oil asset stakes’ transfer by ExxonMobil limited to Seplat Energy, which had received presidential assent. The newspaper reports that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has denied recognising Ahmad Lawan, senate president, and Godswill Akpabio, former minister of Niger Delta affairs, as senatorial candidates for the 2023 elections.

Daily Sun says President Muhammadu Buhari has suspended the plan to begin the deduction of $418 million Paris Club refund allegedly owed four contractors from the federation account. The newspaper says Christ Embassy has suspended a pastor for his appointment as youth ambassador for Bola Tinubu Support Organisation.
