Newspaper Headlines: Workers demand March deadline for COVID vaccination

The release of the Lagos government’s white paper on the report of the state judicial panel on police brutality appeared the cover pages of Nigerian newspapers.

The Punch says workers are asking for the extension of the deadline for COVID-19 vaccination to March. The newspaper reports that the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) said 300,000 children have been newly infected with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV).

Daily Independent reports that Lagos government rejected the report of the judicial panel that nine persons died at Lekki tollgate. The newspaper says Festus Keyamo, minister of state for Labour, said President Muhammadu Buhari lacks the power to release Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

The Guardian reports that the World Bank said petrol subsidy removal in Nigeria will not spike inflation. The newspaper says the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) said it uncovered N20.138 billion duplicated projects in the 2021 budget.
