The decision of the federal government to register another association of university lecturers — Congress of Nigerian University Academics (CONUA) — dominated the cover pages of Nigerian newspapers.

The Punch says the national working committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has resolved to investigate the allegations that the housing allowance paid to the NWC members was a bribe. The newspaper says hoodlums attacked supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) during a rally in Ibadan, Oyo state.

The Nation says the latest attempt by the PDP board of trustees (BoT) to resolve the rift between Atiku Abubakar, the party’s presidential candidate, and the camp of Nyesom Wike, governor of Rivers, has failed. The newspaper reports the federal government is projecting a 3.7 percent growth in Nigeria’s gross domestic product (GDP) and 17 percent inflation in the 2023 budget estimate.

The newspaper says President Muhammadu Buhari has accused the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) of corruption.

The Guardian says the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has released the final list of governorship candidates. The newspaper reports that Babajide Sanwo-Olu, governor of Lagos, has announced an increase in salary for public workers in the state.
