NFF presidential aspirant Doherty partners Southampton to ‘raise champions in sports’

Southampton, the English Premier League (EPL) club, recently hosted David Doherty, one of the aspirants for the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) presidential election.

Doherty is the founder of Team Nigeria UK. He visited the EPL club on Saturday during Southampton’s league game against Leeds United.

During the visit alongside his students, he met with the management of the club which partners with Team Nigeria UK.

He also met Joe Aribo, the Super Eagles and Southampton midfielder, who was named player of the match in the game which was watched by his parents and sister.

Speaking during the visit, Doherty expressed excitement at partnering with the club to raise future champions in sports, education, and other professional fields.

“We appreciate your kind gesture and support towards this project. We are certainly on a solid footing and hopefully, the result will benefit all partners who are collaborating through this project to produce future champions in both sports and education or other professional fields of human endeavors,” he said.

“This will be a win-win for all involved in this project. We are not resting on our oars as we are exploring other grounds, avenues and opportunities to make this a dream come true.”

He added that his students’ visit to Southampton will boost their morale as they look forward to seeing more games to help propel them to greater heights.
