Mohammed Sanusi, secretary-general of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), has praised the federal government for restoring order at the football body.
Sanusi said many people would have been out of work if Buhari had not intervened to avert a potential FIFA ban on Nigeria.
“I wasn’t off duty because I don’t know who sacked me,” Sanusi told TheCable on Monday after the Chris Giwa faction was ejected from the NFF secretariat.
“The Amaju Pinnick-led board that appointed me didn’t sack me. So. I was not off duty and I am not aware of any changes in the federation.
“I have told every staff members to go back to his or her office. This is a victory from God Almighty. All glory to Him for what happened because it has saved so many people’s lives.
“You can imagine if FIFA has banned Nigeria, the number of youth that will be unemployed will be high. Imagine over a thousand youth from Kano alone playing in the league, not to talk of referees, match commissioners, people that might have gotten contract yet to be signed.
“So, the Federal Government of Nigeria has saved the country.
Sanusi advised football stakeholders to submit to FIFA doctrines, saying, “we voluntarily accepted to join FIFA as an international body, that means we have submitted ourselves to the doctrines.
“We have submitted ourselves to the statutory of FIFA and whatever we want to do should be done in accordance with their statutes”.
