Nigeria drawn against France, Canada, Samoa in women’s U-17 World Cup

The Flamingos of Nigeria have been drawn against France, Canada and Samoa in Group D of the 2025  FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup.

The draw was held at the Mohammed VI Football Academy in Rabat, Morocco, on Wednesday.

The Flamingos were placed in pot 1 along with the United States, Spain, Japan, Morrocco and North Korea, the defending champions. The teams were seeded based on their performances in the five previous editions of the tournament.

Nigeria secured the World Cup berth after steamrolling through South Africa in the peultimate round of qualifiers before blitzing past Algeria in the final round.

Morocco, the hosts, alongside Zambia, Cote d’Ivoire, Cameroon and Zambia are the other African teams in the competition.

The Flamingos have made 7 appearances in the competition. The team’s best finish was in 2022 when the girls won bronze in the edition held in India.

The FIFA 2025 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup set to be held in Morocco from October 17 to November 8.
