Nigeria-Egypt stadium tickets go for free

Nasir el-Rufai, governor of Kaduna state, has purchased all the tickets for the Africa Cup of Nations‎ qualifier between the Super Eagles of Nigeria and Pharaohs of Egypt, which kicks off on Friday at 5pm.

According to el-Rufai, the move is to enable residents of the city troop into the stadium to cheer the Nigerian team to victory without paying a dime.

Thousands of football fans in the city were seen struggling for the free ticket at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium, venue of the match.

“Kaduna is a football city, having produced prominent international football stars; and it will always promote sports,” the governor said, adding that the state government plans to establish a sports academy to ‎provide avenue for youths to develop their talents in sports.

El-Rufai will lead members of the state executive council to watch the match.
