Nigeria’s Aruna Quadri has been seeded No.1 in the 2017 Seamaster ITTF Challenge Nigeria Open which begins on Wednesday at the Teslim Balogun, Stadium in Lagos.

Aruna, who is currently ranked 29 in the world, will be in action at the five days competition.

Fellow compatriots Bode Abiodun and Ojo Onaolapo are seeded eight and ninth respectively in the men’s event.

The winner of the 2016 edition, Olah Benedek of Finland is seeded 33, while Egyptian Assar Omar, who is the world No 38 is seeded 33.

Also, Idowu Saheed of Congo is seeded 24th, while Shetty Sanit of India and Saleh Ahmed of Egypt are seeded 16th and 17th respectively.

Meanwhile, in the women’s singles, Shao Jieni of Portugal is seeded No.1 while Pergel Szandra of Hungary is No. 2.

Egyptian Meshref Dina, who is Africa’s No. 1 rated female player is seeded No. 2 having reached the finals of the tournament twice.

Kulikova Olga of Russia and Balint Bernadett of Hungary are seeded four and five, while Nigeria’s ping-pong queen, Funke Oshonaike, is seeded six.

NAN reports that a total of 92 males and 50 females will compete fiercely in the challenge that attracted players from all over the globe.
