The Super Eagles team B defeated the Elephants of Cote d’Ivoire 1-0 in their last pre-tournament friendly on Monday.

The team which kicks off its CHAN 2016 Group C challenge against Niger on January 18 took the lead just at the stroke of half-time via an Ifeanyi Matthew goal in the 45th minute.

Matthew had come close to scoring from a close earlier in the game but was denied by the crossbar.

The tie is the Sunday Oliseh led team’s third and last before they jet off for Kigali on January 15.

They had on January 6 played a 1-1 draw with Angola, days after they thrashed Amatuks, a South African premier league side, at their home ground where the Eagles have been training.

Nigeria finished third in the previous edition of the African Nations Championship in South Africa.

Should the Super Eagles do well, it would better Nigeria’s rating in the next FIFA rankings in the month of February.
