Nigeria records 71 new COVID cases — but no deaths

Nigeria registered 71 new COVID-19 cases on Saturday, raising the total number of cases in the country since the pandemic began to 167,803.

The latest positive samples were recorded in four states, according to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC‘s) update for July 3.

Lagos, the hardest-hit state, topped the COVID-19 infection chart with 63 new cases, four in Oyo, three in Ogun, and one in Kano.

There were no additional fatalities on Saturday. The coronavirus death toll in the country still stands at 2,121.

Nine people were discharged on Saturday after recovering from the infection.

With the new figure, a total of 164,378 patients have so far recovered from COVID-19 in Nigeria.
