The Super Eagles of Nigeria will square off against the Green Falcons of Saudi Arabia in an international friendly match in October.

The Super Eagles have not faced the Saudis in a senior international match.

The Nigerian Football Federation (NFF), in a statement on Wednesday, confirmed that the match will be played in Portugal on October 13.

The Estadio Municipal de Portimão, home ground of Portimonense S.C. — with almost 10,000 capacity — will host the first clash between the two nations.

The friendly comes on the heels of the failure of the NFF to secure an opponent for the September international break window.

The match with Saudi is however seen as a tune-up clash towards the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier series for Africa set to begin in November.

Nine African nations are expected at the 2026 Mundial with an extended 64-nation format.

An extra slot can be gained by the best of four runners-up in an inter-confederation playoff.

Nigeria is in Group C alongside South Africa, Benin Republic, Zimbabwe, Rwanda and Lesotho.
