Nigeria's men and women's team at 2025 ITTF West Africa Championships with their trophies
Nigeria clinched gold medals in both men’s and women’s events at the 2025 International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) Africa West Regional Championships.
The men’s team, comprising Matthew Kuti, Taiwo Mati, and Abdulbasit Abdulfatai, defeated Côte d’Ivoire 3-0 in the final to win the competition on Thursday at the Molade Okoya-Thomas Hall, Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos.
The team reclaimed the title after losing to Togo in 2024.
The women’s team, led by Ajoke Ojomu, Kabirat Ayoola, and Aishat Rabiu, maintained regional dominance, defeating Benin Republic, Ghana, and Guinea to retain their title, which they won in 2024.

The singles event will resume on Friday, and Côte d’Ivoire’s Oba Kizito, the defending men’s champion, faces tough competition from Mati and Kuti.
In the women’s singles, Ojomu, Ayoola, Rabiu, and others all topped their groups to reach the knockouts.
