Umar Ganduje, son of Abdullahi Ganduje, governor of Kano, has lost the house of representatives election in Dawakin-Tofa/Tofa/Rimin Gado constituency.

The younger Ganduje lost to Tijjani Jobe, the lawmaker currently representing the constituency who is also a candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).

The NNPP candidate polled 52,456 votes while Ganduje, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), secured 44,809 votes.

Jobe, who is returning to the house of representatives for the fifth time, defected from the APC to the NNPP in May 2022.
