FG delegation attends summit in Rwanda to create opportunities for youths

A delegation of the federal government is attending the YouthConnekt Africa summit in Kigali, Rwanda to solidify the partnership between Nigerian youth and their counterparts across the continent.
The delegation was led by Olusegun Olufehinti and Hajiya Amina Dauran; directors in the federal ministry of youth and sports; and Kemi Areola, special assistant on ICT to Sunday Dare.
The development is in line with the federal government’s drive to promote entrepreneurship and strengthen youth policy.
In a statement, the youth and sports ministry said the decision to join YouthConnekt Africa was a resolution taken for the sole purpose of socio-economic transformation of the Nigerian youth.
Speaking at the intergenerational dialogue at the summit’s opening ceremony, Paul Kagame, Rwanda’s president, urged the youth to see themselves as change agents.
“You must play a part in what you become. You must play a part in what your society becomes. No matter how small. You must make that decision to play a part. If you wait for handouts, that’s what you become,” he said.
In his remark, Rigathi Gatchgua, the deputy president of Kenya, also urged the youth to take advantage of their vigour, energy and opportunities to build the best future for themselves and others.
Commenting on the initiative, Dare expressed optimism that the YouthConnekt platform will help enhance the areas of focus for the African youth.
