Oluwatobi Oyinlola, a Nigerian innovator, has developed the world’s smallest global positioning system (GPS) tracking device prototype, measuring 22.93 x 11.92mm.
Oyinlola, a researcher and innovator at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in the US, set a new Guinness World Record with his smallest GPS tracker, which is believed to have endless possibilities for use in various industries and spheres of life.
In a statement on Tuesday, President Bola Tinubu congratulated Oyinlola on the significant milestone.
“Oluwatobi’s invention is a testament to the brilliance and potential of our young people,” Tinubu said.

“His work on the world’s smallest GPS tracking device is not just a personal achievement but a national pride. It demonstrates that with the right support and encouragement, Nigerian youth can lead the world in innovation and technology.”
The president emphasised the importance of nurturing such talent, adding that the young inventor’s success story should inspire the creation of an enabling environment for creativity to thrive.
