Tova Africa, a social entrepreneurship organisation in Nigeria, and Green 2000, an Israeli agricultural firm, have signed a partnership deal to empower Nigerian youths.

In a statement on Saturday, Tova said the partnership, which also involves Christ Livingspring Apostolic Ministry (CLAM), a religious institution, will create 1,000 jobs in the agricultural sector.

According to Tova, the partnership will transform Nigeria’s agricultural sector and is projected to contribute €100 million to the country’s economy.

Tova said Nigerian youths have the potential to drive needed growth and innovation in the sector, which will significantly impact the country’s gross domestic product (GDP).

The firm said the agricultural sector accounts for 23.78 percent of Nigeria’s GDP and is projected to grow by 3.3 percent in 2024, according to the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).

Tosin Bakare, Tova’s chief executive officer (CEO), said the partnership will equip the youths with training, resources, and mentorship to launch them into entrepreneurship.

Bakare said contributing partners will leverage their comparative strengths to competently engage the youths for profitability and drive economic progress.

“Africa has the land, but Israel has the technology, technical know-how, resources and the blessing. Through this initiative, participants will gain access to vast hectares of agricultural land, gain modern farming techniques, mentorship from experienced Israeli agricultural experts and networking opportunities, amongst others,” Bakare said.

Also speaking about the partnership, Wole Oladiyun, the senior pastor of CLAM, said empowering youths in agriculture is crucial for Nigeria’s future prosperity.

Oladiyun said CLAM looks forward to seeing the positive impact the programme will have.
