The Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) says Nigeria’s crude oil production increased to a new level in November, but remains below the country’s assigned quota.
In its monthly report on Thursday, the oil alliance said the country’s production figure increased to 1.43 million barrels per day (bpd) in November — the highest in three months.
OPEC said the figure represents a 2.14 percent rise from 1.4 million bpd in October, after the country recorded 1.39 million bpd in September.
Despite the rise in current production, the OPEC data revealed that the country’s output remained below the quota for the fourth consecutive month.

The oil alliance said its figures were derived from direct communication with Nigerian authorities.
The OPEC usually sources its crude oil output data from two channels: direct communication from member countries and secondary sources such as energy intelligence platforms.
With the current production level, the global oil organisation said Nigeria maintained its position as Africa’s leading oil producer, followed by Libya, which recorded an output of 1.37 million bpd.

The oil cartel also said data from secondary sources estimated Nigeria’s crude oil production at 1.48 million bpd in November — a 0.67 percent decline from the 1.49 million bpd recorded in October.
Citing secondary sources, the OPEC said “total DoC crude oil production averaged 43.06 mb/d in November 2025, which is 43 tb/d higher, m-o-m”.
On November 30, the OPEC maintained Nigeria’s oil production quota of 1.5 million bpd to December 2026.
