Nike, sportswear giants, has unveiled the new Super Eagles jerseys ahead of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualification series.

The three-time African champions will host Sierra Leone in the match day three of AFCON qualifier game in March.

Heidi Burgett, Nike’s senior director, global communication, posted the Nigerian national team jerseys on her official Twitter handle on Wednesday.

“New 2020 kits for Nigeria: Home kit’s hand drawn design fuses the traditional aesthetic of an agbada robe w/ modern football design. Away kit trim is inspired by Onaism. Broader collection of Super Eagles apparel includes a poncho, vest, dress, & more,” Burgett said.

“The extensive array of federations donning the Swoosh each have unique histories and cultures. In 2020, their distinctive attributes are celebrated with highly differentiated collections,” Nike wrote on its website.

“Building upon the learnings from the successful 2018 Nigeria Collection, Nike undertook deep cultural immersions and collaborated with each federation to ensure the designs truly resonated.

“From hand-drawn prints to custom fonts, each team’s look will be its own. Counter to templatization, Nike designers had 65 chassis options available to them across varying necklines, sleeves, cuffs, badge placement, etc.”

The design made by the sportswear giant for the Super Eagles — before the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia — was globally acclaimed when it were unveiled.

The shirts sold out minutes after its unveiling in London and were voted the best at the 21st edition of the football mundial in Russia.
