The Crown Elite basketball all-star weekend is set to hold in Abuja from August 22 to 24.
The event will feature Nile University, the champions of the men’s basketball event at the recent edition of the Nigerian University Games Association (NUGA), alongside Gboko City Chiefs, a club in the Nigerian basketball league, and Hoatcoal Basketball Foundation, among other participants.
The showdown is scheduled to be hosted at the Mo Arena Sports Hall, Abuja.
At the event, there will be an all-star game between a selection of players from the Oceanic and Sahel Conferences.

Hamza Abubakar, the head Coach of Nile University will coach the Sahel Conference men’s all-star team. The Oceanic Conference team will be coached by Ogoh Odaudu, the head coach of Rivers Hoopers and the 2024 NBA Basketball Africa League Coach of the Year.
Hanson Oguche, the founder of Crown Elite, said the all-star weekend is a celebration of education and its significance in athletes’ lives.
“We are truly excited to bring the Crown Elite All-Star event to Nigeria’s vibrant capital city, Abuja. This edition promises to be thrilling, as it not only celebrates the heart of basketball in our nation but also emphasises the importance of education among athletes, highlighting and honouring both past and present collegiate basketball players. Education remains the key to athletes’ success on and off the court,” he said.

“The event is designed to inspire excellence while recognising the outstanding achievements of players, officials, and all stakeholders in Nigerian basketball,” said Hanson Oguche, president of Crown Elite Sports, organisers of the All-Star competition and awards.”
The event will also feature fan favourites such as the slam dunk and three-point shooting contests.
Crown Elite will host an invite-only VIP awards presentation on the final day. This event aims to showcase and celebrate the best players, coaches, technical officials, and stakeholders in Nigerian basketball.
